Extending the festival experience year-round, our curated programming brings must-see titles and retro favorites to the PFS Roxy and Prince Theater. To elevate the audience experience, many screenings feature discussions, special guests, and interactive activities like quizzo. There is something for every movie lover!

Once a month, PFS invites viewers to revisit some of the most beloved, acclaimed, and memorable cinematic masterworks of yesteryear with our Classics series.

Passport to World Cinema
Passport to World Cinema brings a handpicked selection of the best international titles from around the globe to the PFS Roxy Theater for their first and often only opportunity to be seen on the big screen in Philadelphia. To enhance the viewing experience, in-depth discussions led by distinguished film critics and scholars follow the film screenings.
Tickets are FREE, though donations to Philadelphia Film Society are welcome. Free ticketing program PFS On Us is presented by PNC Arts Alive.

Philly Film Showcase
Celebrate our talented local filmmakers each month during the Philly Film Showcase. PFS turns the Prince Theater Black Box into a venue for up-and-coming filmmakers of all ages, level, and backgrounds. Each Showcase is followed by a Q&A with the filmmakers and talent to elicit feedback from the audience.

State of the Union
American cinema has always held a mirror to the country’s ever-changing cultural and political landscape, giving the American people a chance to experience their deepest fears and loftiest ambitions magnified by the power of the silver screen. With State of the Union, PFS invites audiences to explore the country’s past and imagine its future through films that rigorously examine American leaders, institutions, and values while still being great works of entertainment.

Throwback Thursday Quizzo & Movie
Do you like trivia, nostalgia films, and drinks? Then get your friends together to form an awesome Quizzo team (witty squad name required) and put your film and pop culture knowledge to the test at PFS’ monthly Quizzo & Movie!
Every First Thursday of the month, come out to the Prince Theater Black Box for a screening of a crowd-pleasing modern classic preceded by a few rounds Quizzo where all questions are about or inspired by that night’s movie. During the film, we will tally up the scores and reveal the winning team as the credits roll. The first-place team and runners-up will win prizes and bragging rights!
